Canada sets 2016 Immigration Targets

Updated: Apr 22, 2020

Today, the Government of Canada has released its immigration targets for 2016.

Compared to 2015 immigration levels, the family class target has gone up by nearly 12,000-14,000, mostly in the Spouses, Partners and Children category; the Refugee and Humanitarian categories has increased by nearly 25,000 (likely due to the Government's commitment to resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees); and the Economic class has reduced by approximately 20,000. Overall the immigration target for 2016 has increased by approximately 20,000 people.

Express Entry applications would fall under the Federal Economic - High Skilled and a portion of the Provincial Nominee Programs targets listed above.
